Plex Systems, Inc. has added supplier and customer consignment features to Plex Online, the company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for manufacturers. The new functionality manages and tracks consigned inventory received from suppliers or shipped to customers. The tool helps to optimize cash flow and ensure uninterrupted product availability, Plex said. It gives manufacturers an accurate inventory count, so that they pay for inventory only after it is consumed. With Plex Online supplier consignment, inventory from a supplier is delivered to the warehouse and consumed and invoiced directly from stock. From the customer consignment side, invoicing, inventory retirement and replenishment can occur at the time of shipment or customer usage. Because the tool is Web-based and delivered under the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, no additional portal has to be set up for communications with suppliers or customers. Plex Online contains more than 350 modules for the management of operations throughout the manufacturing process.
