Swiss WorldCargo is adding two European destinations, Oslo, Norway and Lyon, France, to its service from Zurich, Switzerland for this year's summer schedule. Beginning in June, Lyon will receive four daily flights, operated by Avro RJ100 aircraft, complementing existing road feeder services. At the same time, Oslo will receive twice-daily service using Airbus 319 equipment. On Feb. 1 of this year, Swiss introduced a new truck service to Billund, Denmark's second-largest airport, connecting with six weekly truck frequencies from Copenhagen. The airline is also beefing up services to Spain this summer, with the current four weekly flights on the Zurich-Valencia route increasing to daily service. Changes in intercontinental services include the withdrawal of non-stop service between Zurich and Tripoli, and the shifting of services between Sao Paulo and Santiago de Chile to Swiss's partner airlines. In addition, as of April 26, Swiss will no longer be extending flights from Bangkok to Singapore. Full cargo capacity will be available between Zurich and Bangkok, and service to Singapore will be offered in cooperation with partners. The 2009 summer schedule entered into effect on March 29 and runs until Oct. 24.
