Kore Telematics, a provider of wireless services for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, has teamed up with LoJack Supply Chain Integrity to provide manufacturers and shippers with a tool for ensuring supply-chain security during global transportation. LoJack SCI's technology relies on Kore's M2M network for GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) services. In the process, LoJack's wireless devices can track, monitor and recover cargo in transit. The vendor's integrated service extends to theft investigation and prevention, helping companies to manage risks in the supply chain. The offering is aimed at a variety of industries with high-value, tightly regulated or sensitive goods, including pharmaceuticals and electronics. Many medicines, for example, are subject to strict U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency regulations on chain of custody. In addition to meeting security regulations and preventing theft, companies need to maintain product visibility throughout the supply chain, even when logistics operations are subcontracted to third parties, the partners said.
