The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) has developed an interactive, online tool, which allows companies to benchmark their performance against the respondents to WERC's 2008 survey on warehouse metrics. The tool allows for a facility's performance to be compared in terms of revenue, type of operation, industry and strategy. Reusable over time, it can begin and end on an individually established timetable. All information is saved in the database, and entries are protected by a unique identifier. Users can edit performance measures and see the impact of their benchmarks over time. WERC is offering the service in conjunction with the annual DC Measures Report. The spreadsheet is a natural extension of the work that the council has done to capture and track industry metric standards, according to executive director Michael J. Mikitka. The "Track Your Stats" tool was developed by Karl B. Mandrodt, associate professor at Georgia Southern University, and Kate L. Vitasek, managing partner of Supply Chain Visions.
