TNT Express has begun an international road service to Belarus, Moldova, Macedonia and Albania. Previously, the carrier had offered an Economy Express service to and from those countries. The change gives TNT Express customers a day-definite, customs-cleared, door-to-door delivery service for parcels and freight weighing up to 500 kgs palletized per piece. The previous weight limit was 30 kg per piece. The four new routes add to the 35 European countries that were already covered by TNT's Express Road Network. TNT will use Bucharest, Romania as the hub connecting Moldova to the rest of Europe and the world. Warsaw, Poland will act as a hub connecting Belarus, while Sofia, Bulgaria will serve shipments moving in and out of Macedonia and Albania. TNT's Economy Express service to and from those locations is available to customers around the world, providing day-definite transit of four to eight days, depending on distance. TNT recently upgraded its service to Ukraine, Malta and Cyprus. It is now reinforcing connections with countries neighboring the European Union in the east and south. In another company announcement, TNT said it has inaugurated a road hub in Wuhan, in the Hubei province of China. The regional hub will be managed by TNT Hoau, a wholly owned subsidiary. Occupying more than 46,000 square meters, the hub is located at the Wuhan Dongxihu Bonded Logistics Centre. It will allow TNT to reduce delivery times of key linehauls in the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and Chongqing city by as much as two days, at 10-percent lower operating cost, the company claimed.
