Can you imagine crossing an ocean to prove you are the best? Werner Global Logistics can. Werner Global Logistics designed and implemented the innovative solution that transported the pools for the U.S. Swim Trials over 5,300 miles across oceans and countries.
In 2008, Werner Global Logistics was the official freight forwarder and logistics provider for the pools used in the 2008 U.S. Swim Trials, held June 29-July 6. Although the design and planning began long before, the shipping process began in April 2008, when the pool materials were picked up at the Myrtha Pools factory in Genoa, Italy. From the factory, the pool materials were loaded into containers and transported to an Italian port. Werner Global Logistics, a licensed NVOCC, loaded the containers onto an ocean vessel that transported the materials over 4,000 miles to the Port of New York. Next, the five containers were loaded onto a train for 1,200 miles. The train dropped off the containers at a storage facility, where Werner Global Logistics performed a U.S. Customs entry and inspection. On May 8, the shipping process concluded, when five Werner Enterprises' trucks delivered the containers to the Qwest Center Omaha. Click here for more.
