TAKE Supply Chain has developed a voice-enabled interface for two of its mobile data-collection applications, Gemini Oracle Process Manufacturing and Oracle Discrete Manufacturing. The new Gemini Simplified Interface (G.SI) Voice tool supplements existing Oracle capabilities without time-consuming modifications, the vendor says. By utilizing common radio-frequency terminal interfaces, Gemini Voice can be implemented in a matter of days, according to TAKE. The device uses speech technology from Voice-Insight, a vendor of voice user interfaces for the logistics domain. It was designed to supply any G.SI transaction in more than 36 languages. In noisy warehouse environments, the technology filters out virtually all background noise. Gemini Voice enables hands-free picking and putaway; the information collected is immediately available to Oracle applications.
