Rutges Cargo has created an express delivery service for shippers of valuable, time-critical and temperature-sensitive items in Europe. Rutges is a European truck operator which serves companies in the air cargo, high-tech, pharmaceutical and perishable sectors. For the new service dubbed "Urgent," it has invested in a fleet of small vans capable of carrying up to 1,400 kilos of product. The carrier has identified prime prospects in the aerospace, pharmaceutical, high-tech and luxury goods sectors. It is rolling out the service in phases, beginning with its home territory in Amsterdam, then spreading throughout the Netherlands and ultimately across Europe. Rutges currently operates scheduled truck services to around 100 airports throughout the continent. Like Rutges's other transport services, Urgent incorporates satellite tracking and onboard computers to ensure the security of shipments. It claims to be the only trucking-company member of Cargo 2000, and recently upgraded its quality certification to the latest ISO 9001:2008 standard.
