The 10+2 initiative is creating a considerable level of concern and dialogue in the global trade arena. It is estimated to add $390m to $690m in costs annually due to filing fees instituted by the government and surcharges levied by cargo agents for generating the additional information. These added costs will initially impact supply chain partners. However, as with any additional cost introduction, they can be expected to ultimately pass through to the importer.
