Zenith Global Logistics, in an expansion of its East Coast warehousing and distribution capacity, has opened a new multi-tenant warehouse in Claremont, N.C. Covering 204,000 square feet, the facility is aimed at customers that are facing fluctuating storage-capacity needs against a backdrop of changing economic conditions. Retailers can start with a small footprint and grow over time as conditions change, according to Jack Hawn, Zenith's president and chief executive officer. The Claremont warehouse will serve as Zenith's dedicated in-home delivery center for the East Coast. It will also offer pick, pack and ship services for "home accent" products, Hawn said. Earlier this year, Zenith selected Exel Direct as its preferred home-delivery provider, with in-home delivery offered via four service levels through the 48 contiguous U.S. states. The service includes a Web-based rate-quote system which gives retailers an all-inclusive shipping and home-delivery rate from point of distribution to the consumer's home, along with an estimated data of delivery.
