Descartes Systems Group has enhanced its Global Freight Exchange (GF-X) service to provide real-time integration with air carriers. According to the vendor, the changes improve access to available capacity, routings and pricing when booking freight electronically. The system's Web services capability provides airfreight forwarders with better use of available capacity and improved customer service for carriers, Descartes said. Through GF-X, airfreight carriers can distribute real-time information on product, routing, capacity and rate to forwarders worldwide. Forwarders can access carrier information, make electronic bookings and track shipments via a Web browser at any time. GF-X is part of the Descartes Global Logistics Network (GLN), which connects transportation providers to their trading partners and allows for the exchange of key information on delivery performance. Companies can manage their logistics book-to-bill process, track inventory, meet regulatory requirements, optimize fleet performance and communicate with logistics partners.
