Regal Logistics has opened a distribution center in Charleston, S.C., in response to growing demand for third-party logistics services in the southeastern U.S. The region is becoming a low-cost routing alternative for North and South America, Latin America and Europe, the company said. The expansion gives Regal a nationwide presence, combining with import and export centers in the Pacific Northwest and Southeast. The Charleston facility offers up to 200,000 square feet of warehouse space, designed for high-volume shipments requiring a quick turnaround. Features include a 30-foot clearance height, advanced software systems and online shipment tracking. The location offers quick access to local piers, highways, rails and airport facilities; it is situated within four miles of the Port of Charleston's main Wando Welch Terminal. Regal is a major provider of third-party logistics services to Wal-Mart suppliers in the Pacific Northwest. Its facilities there and in the Southeast consist of more than 1.2 million square feet of warehouse space.
