Shivan S. Subramaniam is the quintessence of the modern American CEO. Okay, his name doesn't read like "Sam Walton" or "Warren Buffett" or even "Howard Schultz," but he and his senior management team at commercial insurer FM Global in blue-collar Johnston, R.I., are the face of tomorrow's U.S. multinational corporation.
