Sonasoft Inc., a vendor of automated systems for archiving, disaster recovery and data backup for small to medium-sized businesses, has expanded its e-mail archiving software. The application now includes a full set of features for companies with 25 employees or more. Sonasoft's SonaVault is a standalone piece of archiving software, designed for Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010. It uses stub technology without any client-side component installation. Message contents, including attachments, are removed from the e-mail. A pointer, or "stub," is created in the e-mail body occupying much less space than the full message. End-users access e-mails through Outlook in the usual fashion. Stubbed e-mails, when replied or forwarded, retrieve contents from the SonaVault Store instead of the Exchange Server. Another feature of the application, Sonasoft's Exchange Replication, allows for continuous e-mail archiving without the loss of e-mails, even after the primary exchange server switches over to a standby server. SonaVault employs encryption tools to ensure that e-mail is tamper-proof. It also helps users to comply with a variety of regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and SEC rules.
