Air Canada Cargo has renewed its contract with Descartes Systems Group whose Global Logistics Network provides the carrier with the communications platform and messaging services it needs to electronically exchange logistics information with trading partners. Such information includes shipment status messages, air waybills, house bills and customs releases. The carrier's cargo operation can use a single connection to reach the majority of the freight forwarders it serves.
"Descartes provides a communication interface for customs releases and logistics messaging that has been assisting our day-to-day operations since 1993," says Lisette Schweiger, manager of technology solutions and e-commerce for Air Canada Cargo. "The global reach of Descartes' GLN and its high quality services and support, combined with the domain expertise of its staff, made the decision to extend our contract an easy one. We look forward to continuing our successful business relationship with Descartes."
Air Canada Cargo provides direct cargo services to more than 150 destinations worldwide using Air Canada's fleet of widebody airplanes along with its own freighter fleet of MD-11s.
