The role of enabling trading partners, segmenting them, on-boarding them and managing their performance in improving overall business performance has been captured in a new report published by Aberdeen Group. The report, B2B Integration and Collaboration: Trading Community Enablement for the Multi-Enterprise Supply Chain, identifies common characteristics shared by top performing firms.
These firms are five times more likely than all other companies (industry average and laggards combined) to indicate that trading community management has a mission-critical impact on their organization. Top-performing companies also are 1.3 times more likely than all others to perform regular surveys of their supplier base to identify the extent of their involvement in B2B integration and collaboration.
Trading Community Management refers to a closed-loop process that involves trading partner recruitment, trading partner enablement, trading partner on-boarding, and trading partner performance management. In this context, the trading community refers to both the demand network (retailers, customers, VARs, resellers, distributors) and the supply network (systems suppliers, contract manufacturers, original design manufacturers).
