Ozburn-Hessey Logistics has begun the first phase of a complex implementation for Zildjian, a renowned manufacturer of cymbals, drumsticks and other percussion products. Some of the instruments require temperature-controlled environments with strict humidity parameters. OH Logistics will warehouse Zildjian's products in its 4-million-square-foot campus in St. Louis and distribute them to musical instrument retailers throughout North America via LTL and parcel shipments.
"This is the first time we have outsourced any portion of our supply chain process, so it was very important for us to find a company we could trust," says CEO Craigie Zildjian.
"[It] has been distributing its own products for centuries," says Jeff Lanter, regional vice president for OH Logistics. "We know the decision to outsource this part of their business was not an easy one and our team takes great pride in this successful implementation."
Phase I of the implementation includes storage of Zildjian's drumsticks and POS materials. Phase II will incorporate the company's cymbals.
