Averitt Express has made improvements to its less-than-truckload services in some 14,000 lanes. The changes were designed to reduce overall transit times, Averitt said, estimating that around 86 million pounds of freight moving through its network will experience less handling. Markets benefiting from the improvements include Augusta, Ga.; Beaumont, Tex.; Cleveland, Ohio; Cookeville, Tenn.; Corbin, Ky.; Darlington, S.C.; Fayetteville, Tenn.; Hickory, N.C.; Jonesboro, Ark.; Lubbock, Tex.; Meridian, Miss.; Shenandoah, Va.; Tyler, Tex., and Waco, Tex. Averitt expects the network re-engineering to result in 576,000 fewer operating miles annually, conserving around 100,000 gallons of diesel fuel each year. Averitt provides a variety of transportation and supply-chain management services, reaching more than 100 countries.
