Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) and "K" Line will launch a new all-water service for cargo moving westbound from key Asian ports to the U.S. East Coast, via the Suez Canal. The service, scheduled to begin on May 15, will consist of two ships from MOL and seven from "K" Line. The vessels will have an average capacity of 5,500 twenty-foot equivalents (TEUs). They replace an existing service in that lane operated solely by "K" Line. Introduction of the new service allows MOL to offer direct connections from Vietnam, South China and Singapore to the U.S. East Coast, including a call at Jacksonville, Fla. and first-time coverage in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The port rotation will be Cai Mep, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore, Halifax, New York, Norfolk, Jacksonville, Savannah, Singapore and Cai Mep.
