Schneider National Inc., the nation's largest truckload carrier and provider of related logistics and intermodal services, has become a member of the Towing Network. The latter is a new national group formed to promote collaboration and fairer pricing among towing services available to motor carriers. Launched in April of 2010, the network claims 20,000 towing members. It serves as a dispatch organization for heavy-duty towing and road services. Its goal, organizers said, is to bridge the gap between towing companies and motor carriers, leading to fair and consistent pricing and a "one-call-does-it-all" towing service. The Towing Network's rates are established by a board of towing experts with an average of 25 years of industry experience. Schneider National is the network's largest carrier member to date. The group said it is actively seeking partner towing companies with solid reputations and the ability to provide large motor carriers with heavy-duty towing, recovery and road services.
