Schneider National Inc., the truckload carrier and provider of other logistics and intermodal services, has set up regional operations in the U.S. Northeast. Shippers now have access to Schneider services in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. Schneider now offers regional services in 48 states. The Northeast Regional offering specializes in shipments of 500 miles or less. Marc Rogers, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Van Truckload, said the carrier's final expansion effort was sped up due to high customer demand, following the beginning of regional operations in 2008. Schneider is adopting its approach in line with local needs, including a willingness to pay more to drivers willing to take on the challenge of driving in the congested Northeast. Customers within the region will work with the same service representatives on a consistent basis, the company said.
