TNT Express has launched a five-day-a-week air cargo service connecting Moscow with its main European hub of Liege, Belgium, via Warsaw. Operated by a Boeing 737-300 with 16 metric tons of capacity, the new service is designed to speed up the movement of time-critical shipments to and from Russia, TNT said. Items suited for the service include automotive parts, clinical supplies and biological samples. In particular, said TNT, the connection will strengthen its service to the healthcare industry. Russia is becoming an increasingly more important market for pharmaceutical companies, due to the size of its population, the government's drug reimbursement program, and an increase in drug consumption. Temperature-sensitive biological samples account for a large proportion of TNT's shipments out of Russia, the carrier said. In recent years, TNT has expanded its presence in Russia on a number of fronts, including dedicated services for the clinical trials market.
