FreightWatch International is developing data on cargo theft in the European market, in partnership with Eurowatch, a European police-response service provider. FreightWatch is a vendor of global logistics security systems. The dual effort will track, record and analyze crime trends. "By pooling resources, theft information and efforts, the industry serves to benefit from better intelligence, more effective countermeasures and safer supply chains," said FreightWatch chief executive officer Barry Conlon. The joint reports will combine information from both organizations to identify cargo theft trends in Europe, including active targeting by criminal gangs, popular stolen items, changes in average loss value, and theft by location. The partners might also compare incidents of cargo theft regionally, among Europe, South America, Asia and the U.S. FreightWatch's offerings include electronic freight security, round-the-clock monitoring, security escorts, cargo assessments and intelligence, and end-to-end logistics services. Eurowatch is used by more than 1,000 international transport fleets, and some 250 international insurance companies.
