The GAC Group has set up a full-fledged ship agency in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The move was prompted by the vitality of Brazil's shipping and oil and gas sectors, the company said. From Rio, GAC's Brazil team will work with a network of approved sub-agents to offer a broad range of port agency services, including vessel husbandry, crew changes, medical assistance and provisions at all major Brazilian ports. GAC said it intends to meet the needs of Brazil's burgeoning energy sector for mobilization, demobilization, offshore support and crew transfers. It is also serving the drybulk, general cargo, tanker and roll-on/roll-ff sectors. For door-to-deck delivery of parts, GAC maintains a ships spares logistics department with nationwide coverage. Headquartered in Dubai, GAC employs more than 9,000 people at 300 offices worldwide.
