Zenith Global Logistics, a provider of supply-chain services for home furnishings companies, has opened a regional freight hub in Atlanta, Ga. The operation is dedicated to the company's home delivery service as well as its growing split-container program, Zenith said. According to president and chief executive officer Jack Hawn, furniture retailers are faced with fluctuating inventory and storage capacity needs in a challenging economy. They are increasingly relying on the vendor's split-container program to meet changing inventory needs. The Atlanta hub represents Zenith's third domestic expansion within the last year; others are a regional freight hub in Tupelo, Miss. and multi-tenant warehousing and distribution center in Claremont, N.C. Future network expansions, according to the company, will include facilities in Seattle, Chicago, Orlando and Elizabethtown, N.J. Zenith offers warehousing, overseas transportation and domestic distribution of home furnishings for North America and the Caribbean. It operates more than 4.5 million square feet of domestic warehouse space.
