Vocollect Inc., a vendor of voice-controlled devices for mobile workers, has enhanced its wearable units for use in warehouses and distribution centers. The improvements support voice-centric operations in Eastern Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Vocollect's devices are based on the combination of the Talkman T2x, T5 or T5m wearable voice appliance, and SR or SRX series headsets, and a suite of supporting software. In VoiceClient 3.7, Vocollect has extended speech recognition and language functionality to include Romanian, Slovak, Cantonese, Czech, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Mandarin for China, Mandarin for Taiwan, Turkish and Thai. The vendor now supports 36 languages in all. Enhancements in version 3.2 of VoiceConsole include a database-free version, along with expanded platform support to give IT practitioners more operations for implementing voice technology in the warehouse. A new battery asset capability helps to extend the life of device batteries by noting changes on an information display. Vocollect is also offering additional headset options with the new SL-14 headset, a behind-the-head unit that is especially suited for use in operations with seasonal demand or high turnover, or less industrialized environments.
