Ford Motor Company, which has a longstanding relationship with Penske Logistics, put the 3PL to work late last year providing material planning and handling services at its Southampton, U.K., facility that produces approximately 80,000 Ford Transit vans each year.
Bill Scroggie, vice president, operations, Penske Logistics, says, "We will leverage our expertise and draw upon Six Sigma and ISO standards to develop and deploy repeatable processes. The combination of these tools along with the local operating team will reduce costs, drive supply chain efficiencies and improve overall quality at the plant."
