CMA CGM is launching a direct ocean container service between Asia, Mexico and the west coast of South America. Dubbed ACSA 2, the service is being offered in partnership with CSCL, Hanjin Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine. It will provide direct connections to Guayaquil, Ecuador and Iquique and Valparaiso, Chile, as well as enhanced port coverage of the South American west coast. The service will deploy 10 vessels with capacity of between 2,350 and 2,550 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The port rotation will be Shekou, Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, Manzanillo, Buenaventura, Guayaquil, Callao, Iquique, Valparaiso, San Vicente, Manzanillo, Pusan and back to Shekou. ASCA 2 is slated to begun its eastbound rotation at Shekou on Sept. 13.
