Specialized Transportation Inc., a provider of logistics services for high-value products, is offering customers a free Google Android application. It can be found in the Android Market screen on all Android phones. Known as STIdelivers, the application provides customers with shipment status, location, actual or planned delivery date, and delivery signature. Customers can download it by searching "STIdelivers" in the Android Market. The application can be used at any time or place, STI said. It was designed in response to the growth of virtual work locations, heavy travel demands and the multiple time zones in which customers operate, according to STI chief financial officer Rick Burton. STI was formerly the High Value Products/Logistics Division of North American Van Lines; it became an independent company in 2004. STI focuses on products that require high-touch support, special handling and equipment, and on-site services. The company offers specialized padded-van transportation, trade-show support, first and final-mile logistics, white-glove services, transportation management, warehousing, home delivery and technology tools.
