ALK Technologies Inc. has released several new tools for truck routing, mileage determination and mapping. The vendor is now offering version 24.1 of PC-MILER/Worldwide, an application which generates routes, distances, maps and driving directions over the entire international highway network. Regional coverage includes Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America and South America. The update offers secondary road coverage throughout Western and Central Europe, as well as new information on 53-foot and twin trailer routing, and new truck restrictions throughout North America and Europe. Also available is version 17 of ALK's PC-MILER/Rail, the vendor's routing, mileage and mapping software for rail. The update includes a number of enhancements, including directional routing for accurate mileage over one-way rail lines, the ability to view mileage split among participating carriers for interline routes, and new function calls for the programming interface. ALK has also announced the release of the 11th annual Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD), version 24.1 of the official standard of vehicular land distances for the movement of all household goods, freight and travel reimbursement for military personnel.
