Hand Held Products Inc., a maker of data collection systems, reports that revenues grew 14 percent during the first half of 2005, compared with the same period of 2004. That was on top of 40-percent growth in 2004, according to chief executive officer Kevin Jost. The main reason: big demand for the company's 2D imaging-based systems, as well as its mobile computers. Hand Held cites projections by Venture Development Corp. that shipments of traditional laser-based barcode technology will increase by just 6.5 percent by the end of 2008. But demand for liner and 2D imaging systems will grow by 11 percent and 20.8 percent, respectively, VDC said.
