Wavelink Corp. is now deploying its Avalanche system to manage printers attached to mobile terminals via Bluetooth. Users can control Bluetooth printers through Wavelink Printer Management, a plug-in to Wavelink Avalanche. Wavelink Printer Management lets administrators uniquely identify each mobile printer, determine its location via its connected mobile terminal and view printer information such as firmware, battery level and installed RAM. Usage reports show which printers are used most frequently, allowing for the scheduling of maintenance to extend printer head life and reduce unit downtime. The Printer Management user interface integrates with the Wavelink Avalanche Web Console. Printer Management runs on selected mobile terminals to which Bluetooth printers are connected. It communicates from the mobile terminal and gathers information from the printers, which is relayed back to the Avalanche system. In another company announcement, Wavelink said it has extended its customer-support options to include live chat. The feature is now available through a new corporate website, which includes more information and interactive features via an easy-to-navigate interface.
