Regal Logistics has purchased a new distribution center in Charleston, S.C. Built with tilt-up concrete panels, the facility includes 351,000 square feet of public warehouse designed for high-volume, quick-turnaround shipping. It is located three miles from I-526 and four miles from the Port of Charleston's main Wando Welch Terminal. The building offers foreign trade zone and drayage zone status, resulting in less expensive container transportation to ports, Regal claimed. The company's expansion in the U.S. Southeast is in response to demand by manufacturers, importers and exporters for an East Coast ship point to satisfy major retailers such as Walmart, said Regal vice president Garry Neeves. Regal provides distribution, pick and pack, export and import shipping, consolidation, cross-docking, transloading, drop shipping, administrative support and value-added services at the new facility. Along with its Pacific Northwest distribution center, Regal offers a total of 1.3 million square feet of space for bicoastal distribution.
