Jacobson Companies has set up a new operating unit, Jacobson Global Logistics Inc. (JGL), in Hong Kong. The company plans to use the new venture as a base from which to expand its logistics services in Asia. JGL said it will provide a full range of international logistics services to and from the U.S., as well as within Asia. Its offerings will include ocean and air freight forwarding, purchase order management, procurement and consolidation, value-added services at origin, customs brokerage, bonded warehousing, deconsolidation, distribution center bypass, transloading, bonded hubs and international multimodal transport. Founded in 1968, Jacobson Companies operates more than 35 million square feet of warehouse space with approximately 7,000 employees.
