The New World Alliance (TNWA), a vessel space-sharing arrangement among APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, is introducing a direct Vietnam-to-North Europe service. The carriers will create the new route with the addition of a Vietnam call to their JEX service. The first vessel in the service, the MOL Precision, is due to call at Cai Mep in mid-January. In the process, the lines will offer shippers a direct linehaul service from the emerging Vietnam market to the North Europe ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Le Havre. The service will also provide a direct connection from major Japanese and Chinese ports to Vietnam. Transit times will be seven days from Tokyo to Cai Mep, and 21 days from Cai Mep to Rotterdam.
