APICS, which bills itself as The Association for Operations Management, has released the 13th edition of the APICS Dictionary. According to APICS, the publication is the industry standard for core terminology and emerging definitions in the operations and supply-chain management professions. First published in 1963, the dictionary helps users to communicate efficiently with colleagues around the world, APICS said. The new edition contains more than 300 new terms and definitions, including "triple bottom line," "dynamic kanban" and "strategic variables." The dictionary is available as a benefit to APICS members. The 13th edition marks the first time that the publication has been offered as an electronic download, which can be printed or viewed on multiple devices. APICS serves as a leading source of knowledge related to aspects of operations management, including production, inventory, supply chain, materials management, purchasing and logistics.
