CMA CGM has upgraded its ACSA ocean container service linking Asia with Mexico, Central America and the west coast of South America. According to the line, the new configuration will result in faster transit times between Asia, Mexico and South America, with connections between Chile and Hong Kong reduced by seven days and between Mexico and Shanghai by nine days. Instead of a single rotation, the service will be operated on two distinct loops. The change also includes new westbound calls at Yokohama, Japan and Keelung, Taiwan, to meet growing demand for refrigerated goods from Mexico and South America to Asia. The line is utilizing 11 vessels of 6,500 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) on Loop 1, and 10 ships of 4,200 TEUs on Loop 2.
