The air cargo industry's slow migration toward electronic documentation has led the International Air Transport Association to revise its internal deadlines for a second time.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) revised its 2013 global industry outlook downwards to $11.7bn on revenues of $708bn. Airline performance continued to improve in the second quarter, but at a slower pace than was expected with the previous projection (in June) of $12.7bn. This reflects the impact on demand of the oil price spike associated with the Syrian crisis and disappointing growth in several key emerging markets.
Figures for July show global air cargo traffic continuing the modest improvement trend experienced in June, according to the International Air Transport Association.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released June figures showing a 1.2-percent year-on-year expansion in global air freight demand. Although weak, this is an improvement when compared to the 0.9-percent year-on-year demand growth recorded in May and the 0.1-percent growth realized over the first half of the year.
