The latest version of Isotrak's vehicle tracking solution enables fleet operators to improve trailer utilization and cut operational costs and fleet size by as much as 10 percent, the manufacturer says. The Active Transport Management System (ATMSi) gives round-the-clock visibility of all the trailers in the fleet, identifying those in use and those underutilized.
Moonlighting van drivers are probably to blame for the growing problem of GPS jamming on Britain's roads, the latest survey of the problem by the Technology Strategy Board's Sentinel Project has suggested. In advance of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Vulnerabilities 2013 event, the organization revealed its network of sensors had recently detected up to 100 potentially dangerous jamming incidents a day near one busy UK airport alone.
An overwhelming majority (86 percent) of fleet professionals said at least half of their fleet processes could be made more efficient through technology, but less than half (44 percent) said they will invest in new technologies in the coming year, according to a survey released by ARI, a global fleet services provider. This gap points to a need for technology implementation across the industry as a means of increasing efficiency and decreasing costs.
