The consumer-products giant has an innovative strategy for adjusting to ever-shifting consumer preferences.

The Procter & Gamble Company plans to build a multi-category manufacturing facility in Berkeley County, West Virginia, in the Eastern Panhandle of the state near the town of Tabler Station. When the plant opens in 2017, it will be one of the most advanced and sustainable plants among P&G's global manufacturing and supply-chain operations.

Procter + Gamble Co. says its 15th Annual Sustainability Report demonstrates the company's commitment to helping people live better and more sustainably through an integrated approach to environmental and social responsibility. The report includes P+G's sustainability results from the past fiscal year and progress updates on the company's environmental and social responsibility goals for 2020.

Beginning in July 2013, Procter & Gamble will work with eight transportation carriers to convert up to 20 percent of its North America truck load shipments to natural gas vehicles within two years. By meeting this goal, it is expected P&G will incur savings for the converted lanes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) by nearly 5,000 metric tons (or the equivalent GHG emissions from 1,000 passenger vehicles for a year).
