The CMA CGM Group is upgrading its services between Asia and California. The move is in response to anticipated growth in demand in the trans-Pacific trades in 2011 and beyond, the carrier said. As of May, 2011, CMA CGM will reinforce coverage of the trade with two services: the Hangzhou Shuttle, offering direct service between Ningbo, Shanghai and Los Angeles, and the Sunrise service, a combined offering between South Korea, Japan and the U.S. West Coast. The first completes existing CMA CGM services in Central and North China, as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Central and South China. The addition will double the frequency of calls to five major Chinese ports, supported by 12 vessels of 8,100 twenty-foot equivalent units and five of 6,000 TEUs. The Sunrise service will be operated by five 4,400-TEU vessels.
