Honeywell has introduced Remote MasterMind for Mobility, a means of centralizing management of mobile data-collection devices. The tool allows users to manage, update and remotely diagnose Windows Mobile and Windows CE devices within a network from a single centralized location. Following the release of Remote MasterMind for Scanning in January, 2009, the new product allows key functions, such as asset tracking, software distribution, configuration management, remote diagnostics and performance measurement, to be performed remotely on any device with a Windows operating system, including those not manufactured by Honeywell. Developed in partnership with remote management technology developer SOTI Inc., the software is equipped with global positioning system functionality. In a related announcement, Honeywell is now offering the Microsoft Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system for the Dolphin 6100 and 6500 mobile computers. The system was designed to support mobile devices that run critical applications, such as those in retail, supply chain and other light-industrial environments. Honeywell said it will also continue to support Windows CE 5.0.
