The Institution for Supply Management (ISM) has become a charter member of the new Supply Chain and Logistics Certification Network. The new group consists of U.S.-based, non-profit associations that provide nationally portable certifications for workers involved in aspects of global supply-chain and logistics, including factories, warehouses, distribution centers and carriers. Other charter members include APICS The Association for Operations Management, the American Society of Transportation and Logistics, the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council, and the Warehousing Education and Research Council. Each has a nationwide infrastructure in place for delivering courses and certification assessments. Network members will work together to raise awareness within industry, education and government, to help meet businesses' needs for skilled workers at all levels of the supply chain and logistics, including certified warehousing facilities. The organization is responding to a need by employers for a more highly skilled workforce, with accelerated adoption of advanced technologies and processes, in order to enhance productivity and global competitiveness. ISM offers the Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) and Certified Professional in Supplier Diversity (CPSD) qualifications. It is a member of the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management.
