Honeywell International has introduced the N5600 series of area-imaging engines. The new technology provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a platform that meets the barcode-scanning needs of end-users in virtually all markets, the company claimed. The N5600 offers color-imaging capabilities, eliminating the need for a separate camera. Developed with Adaptus Imaging Technology 6.0, it provides scanning out to 16.5 inches on 100-percent UPC barcodes. Equipped with motion-tolerance and flexible aiming options, the unit can handle hard-to-read barcodes, including those found on the screens of mobile devices. The N5600 is compatible with Honeywell's TotalFreedom development platform and Remote MasterMind (ReM) remote device-management software. OEMs can add custom features via software plug-ins through a pre-defined application programming interface.
