Geodis Wilson, a global freight forwarder and logistics services provider, is opening a distribution center in the Jebel Ali Free Zone of Dubai. Covering 8,500 square meters, the facility allows the company to extend its forwarding services to a full-service contract model in the Middle East. Geodis Wilson invested approximately 1 million euros in the Jebel Ali distribution center, which now provides a broad range of supply-chain services including warehousing, inventory management, labeling, barcoding, packing pouches, blisters, vendor management and domestic and cross-border distribution. The location offers ambient and temperature-controlled accommodation, and is equipped with configurable racking up to a height of 13 meters. The premises are Wi-Fi enabled with remote desktop scanners. Ram Padmanabhan, Geodis Wilson's supply chain manager in Dubai, said the company is positioning itself to attract customers from the areas of fast-moving consumer goods, retail and high-tech. Geodis Wilson is the freight-forwarding arm of SNCF Geodis, a division of the French railway group SNCF.
