Motorola Solutions Inc. has expanded its line of rugged mobile computers by offering a unit designed to operate in hazardous locations. Co-developed with Bartec, a specialist in products and services for hazardous environments, Motorola's new computers are designed to meet the needs of mobile workers in the manufacturing, government, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. The new line of mobile computers includes the compact MC75A, gun-style MC90190 for scan-intensive environments, and industrial-class MC9500 for field mobility. Motorola's mobile computers certified for hazardous locations are UL Class 1, Class 11 and Class 111, Division 2-compliant. They are complemented by similarly certified products available from Bartec, along with ATEX Zone 2 and Zone 22-compliant configurations. Motorola is utilizing green keypads to signify the hazardous-location certification on the three new mobile computers.
