Tecsys Inc., a vendor of software for supply-chain management, has released a tool for healthcare providers. The Supply Management System (SMS) is geared toward the just-in-time needs of the clinical supply chain at point of use, Tecsys said. It provides visibility and accessibility of supplies within a hospital or integrated delivery network. It automates replenishment based on actual consumption, capturing item-usage data for patient billing. Tecsys's SMS uses touch-screen technology to provide users with easy access to international. Product and usage information are captured via barcode and stored in the Tecsys system, enabling purchasing organizations to track usage, re-order to minimums and plan demand accordingly. The result, claimed Tecsys, is a virtual elimination of stockouts. Customers of the vendor's warehouse-management and distribution applications include mid-sized and Fortune 1000 corporations in healthcare, heavy equipment, third-party logistics and wholesale, high-volume distribution.
