Motorola Inc. has created two new scanners designed for use in warehouses, distribution operations and manufacturing plants, and equipped with Bluetooth capability. The rugged Symbol scanners, models LS3578-ER and LS3578-FZ, are cordless units designed for the most extreme working conditions, Motorola said. The Bluetooth feature allows for integration with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as Motorola's VC5090 vehicle-fixed-mount mobile computer. Remote Scanner Management technology allows site administrators immediately to locate scanners and push multiple application updates simultaneously from a central remote location. The LS3578-FZ features "fuzzy logic" technology, based on advanced scanning algorithms, to allow for accurate and fast reading of worn, damaged, dirty or poorly printed barcodes. The LS35478-ER can read barcodes as close as four inches and as far away as 45 feet. The LS3578 is available with Motorola's Enterprise Mobility Services agreement, promising next-day delivery of replacement devices.
