Damco, a global provider of freight-forwarding and supply-chain management services, has begun providing its customers with an online tool for calculating their carbon-dioxide emissions. It is available at myDamco, the company's browser-based customer interface. The service allows Damco customers to track CO2 emissions for all products shipped by ocean and air. Each shipment can be measured in terms of "track-and-trace" functionality. For example, a customer can quickly evaluate emissions from an air-freight shipment, or form an overview of top 10 emissions separated by mode of transportation, origin and country destination. In 2007, Damco launched SupplyChain CarbonCheck, following it up with SupplyChain CarbonDashboard and Packaging Optimization tools. They provide customers with more detailed visibility, combined with advice on how to reduce CO2 emissions. Damco's Packaging Optimization service addresses carton dimensions and material thickness. Damco has 9,500 employees in more than 280 offices across 90 countries, in addition to representation in 120 countries. It is an independent business unit within the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group.
