MD Logistics, a third-party logistics services provider, has opened a West Coast distribution center. Located in Reno, NV, the facility covers 55,000 square feet and will operated as an FDA-registered, pharmaceutical-grade warehouse, adhering to eGMP (Good Management Practices) compliance standards. Capabilities will include controlled room-temperature and cold-chain storage and distribution. Currently MDL operates two facilities for retail and pharmaceutical goods distribution in Plainfield, Ind. With the addition of the Reno center, the company now has facilities within a 24-hour drive of 80 percent of the U.S. population. MDL chose Reno as the location for the new center because of the area's strong transportation infrastructure and proximity to large West Coast markets, the company said. MDL added that it will continue its strategic partnership with Seko Worldwide, a global freight forwarder, and will be operating Seko Worldwide-Reno out of the new facility. Industries served by MDL include life sciences and pharmaceuticals, retail and consumer goods, and transportation services.
